Our photography tour to Uganda
Embarking on a private photography tour to Uganda last year was an incredible decision. Uganda, a country brimming with versatile communities overflowing with love and hospitality, boasts a rich tapestry of diverse ethnicities and religions. While Christianity holds dominance, the allure of Uganda extended beyond its cultural richness. We were drawn to its safety as a travel destination and the abundance of natural wonders and breathtaking landscapes. Our primary goal was to capture the essence of people's daily lives, prompting us to venture into remote villages untouched by modernity.
To ensure a seamless experience, we enlisted the services of a reputable agency for a private tour. Equipped with an assortment of camera gear, including strobe lights, a variety of lenses for portraits and telephoto shots, umbrellas, and soft lighting accessories, we embarked on this independent journey. We funded the trip ourselves, without any sponsorship, driven solely by our passion for photography. Our journey commenced with a six-hour flight from Dubai to Kampala, the vibrant capital city of Uganda. From there, we embarked on lengthy journeys lasting approximately six to seven hours each, leading us to Kisoro and Kalisizo. Along the way, we made deliberate stops to capture the everyday activities of different individuals. To our delight, we were welcomed with warm smiles and open hearts, embraced as guests rather than intruders, as we aimed to capture their lives through our lens. The hospitality we encountered was truly exceptional, fostering an atmosphere of trust and collaboration.
Motivated by the extraordinary beauty we witnessed, we were inspired to share our images with the world. Our vision was to exhibit these captivating photographs in art festivals, shedding light on the hidden treasures of Uganda. Despite being overshadowed by more popular destinations like Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, or South Africa, renowned for their wild safaris and indigenous tribes, Uganda holds numerous hidden gems that often go unnoticed by many tourists and photographers.
